Paradise Beach Recreation Area

Welcome!
Paradise Beach is almost like a freshwater ocean beach, with sand dunes and a gently sloping beach to lie on. The oxbow bend in the river creates a cove where cautious swimmers and skimmers can play. The park is a popular destination for swimming families and young adults. Both secluded and popular, Paradise Beach is an excellent lazy-day summer destination.

How to Get There

From U.S. 50, take the Howe Ave. off-ramp, heading north. Make a left on Fair Oaks Blvd., then a right on Carlson Drive. You will find Paradise Beach at the intersection of Carlson and Sandburg Drives, over the levee from Glen Hall Park.

Activities

• The most popular activity at Paradise Beach is swimming, although that activity takes place at  the swimmer’s own risk.

• Nearby Glenn Hall Park, a City of Sacramento park, offers supervised swimming at the public pool.

• In the off-season, fishing is popular at Paradise Beach.

Alcohol is prohibited in the Paradise Beach Recreation Area.

Hours and Fees

   • The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

   • This is a walk-in access, and no entry fees are collected.
